Vacation Program Descriptions

Wednesday (Dec 26th)
Morning Solstice and Stones: Let's dig into the history of the sky, sun, and stars, and what it's meant for people across time. We'll talk about ancient structures like Stonehenge and then make our own modern sky-stones! Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Sparkling Jello: What patterns do you see?
Afternoon Stars and Constellations: We'll learn about some of the constellations we can see from our hemisphere and make glow-in-the-dark constellation guides!

Thursday (Dec 27th)
Morning Crystal Creations: What exactly causes crystals to crystallize? Why do they form such patterns? Let's make our own crystals and find out! Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Crunchy Candy: Compare and contrast the many ways sugar can crystallize.
Afternoon Playful Polymers: What do bouncy balls and slimy gak have in common? They're both polymers, so we'll be making both!

Friday (Dec 28th)
Morning Charming Candles: We'll explore the history of illumination and try out two different methods of candlemaking. Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Battered Banana: Marvel at the changes heat can bring.
Afternoon Circling Carousels: With the power of convection, we'll create a spinning carousel, as well as learn how convection on a grand scale creates our weather and has so much to do with if we're cold and wet this winter!
