Vacation Program Descriptions

Friday (April 12th)
Morning Newton's Cradle: We'll experiment with Newton's laws of motion, particularly conservation of momentum Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Jellyfish: Jellyfish.
Afternoon Plastic Jellyfish: How do jellyfish fit into the ocean ecosystem, and what's the big deal about plastic bags?

Tuesday (April 17th)
Morning Propulsion Power: Go go go! Make a car that moves under its own power. Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Pop rocks: A burst of energy in your mouth.
Afternoon Coral Reefs: Coral reefs often come up when talking about ocean life, but what's really so special about them?

Wednesday (April 17th)
Morning Zipline Racers: Just how fast can you make yours zoom? Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Shark-infested Jello: The snack that bites back.
Afternoon Shark Evolution: It's hard to get the full story from fossils. Try your hand at the bizarre whirls of the helicoprion and learn the real reason we know the megalodon is extinct.

Thursday (April 18th)
Morning Bernoulli's Ball: By manipulating high and low pressure air, you'll gain the ability to levitate objects. Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Bubble tea: Roundly delicious.
Afternoon Depths of the Ocean: It can be hard to picture just how vast and deep the ocean is, but we have just the picture for that!

Friday (April 19th)
Morning Static Power: Static electricity is a lot stronger than people realize. We'll do experiments to show this invisible force's surprising impact on the world around it. Robotics: With Lego Mindstorms you'll build and program a robot. You'll learn the basics of programming then set your creation loose!
Break Seaweed Snacks: Eat some algae.
Afternoon Coastal Catastrophes: Eroding beaches, wilting mangroves, cranky crabs...what's going on?





Vacation Week Tuition

Dates: April 12th, 16th - 19th.
Program hours: 9:00am-4:00pm.

Daily Schedule: Morning is one science class and one technology class, followed by lunch and recess. We then get back to learning with a fun educational activity in the afternoon.
Extended hours: Extended AM hours are offered starting at 8:15am at an additional cost of $8 per day.
Extended PM hours are offered from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at an additional cost of $8 per half hour.
Cost: Daily tuition: $90
