Summer Program Description

6/20 - 6/24 (Week 1)
Morning Electric Boss: How do electrical devices work? How does energy get from a battery to a light bulb? Learn how electric circuits, batteries and motors work, then use your imagination to design and build your own electric devices like a boss! Stop Motion Animation: An egg-shaped blob of clay transforms into a fire-breathing dragon! Learn how to create the illusion of motion with everyday materials like Legos, toys, clay, and paper cutouts. Bring your creative ideas to life with stop-motion animation software and your imagination.
Afternoon Ice Age: Did you know that 15,000 years ago Massachusetts was under a sheet of ice a mile high? Or that the great glaciers made Cape Cod and the islands? We'll explore what it was like during this time and learn about the strangely familiar Ice Age animals.

6/27 - 7/1 (Week 2)
Morning Gross Anatomy: What makes living things tick? You'll explore vertebrate physiology from the cellular level to the organ systems, how they work and what they look like. You'll also learn about the yucky stuff like parasites and mucus. This class includes microscope work and dissection. Lego Robotics: Use Lego Technic and the MINDSTORMS programming system to build and program your own robotic inventions! Using motors, sensors and imagination, we'll work on projects like art-bots, maze-runners, creature-bots, robo-soccer, and others!
Afternoon Wizards and Warriors: You are searching old ruins by the light of a flickering torch. Suddenly a giant troll steps out of the shadows, and he looks mad! What will you do? Run, fight, cast a spell? The choice is yours as you and your friends play heroes in a fantasy world using the Dungeons and Dragons rules. Search dark dungeons, solve insidious riddles, fight monstrous evil and finally escape with the fabulous treasure. Make sure to bring your imagination!

7/5 - 7/8 (Week 3)
Morning Slime Time: Get ready to be slimed! Discover the chemistry behind all things gooey and gummy, then make our own oozes, slimes, mucus, and goos. Lego Robotics: Use Lego Technic and the MINDSTORMS programming system to build and program your own robotic inventions! Using motors, sensors and imagination, we'll work on projects like art-bots, maze-runners, sumo-bots, robo-soccer, and others!
Afternoon Action Contraptions Everything is in motion this week. Learn to use Lego technic pieces, K'nex, and other building materials to design and build contraptions that fold up, pop open, spin, and shoot down a zip line. Use your imagination and come up with the craziest contraptions ever!

7/25 - 7/29 (Week 4)
Morning Potions and Notions: Let’s mix up some potions! Join us this week for an adventure in chemistry as we make useful and fun notions and potions. Lego Robotics: Use Lego Technic and the MINDSTORMS programming system to build and program your own robotic inventions! Using motors, sensors and imagination, we'll work on projects like art-bots, maze-runners, creature-bots, robo-soccer, and others!
